Decades following the United Kingdom’s membership to the European Union, the country’s authority has been unsure of the newly formed relationship. The United Kingdom’s government kept a distance from the Brussels’ authority and influence in the form of negotiation attempting to opt out from the policies of the European Union such as a common currency within the bloc and Schengen area border-free movement. Majority of the pro-British’s exit from the Union argued that the country would be capable of managing issues like immigration and trade if it frees itself from the central control by the bloc’s influence.
