Multiple factors influence encoding, decoding, and storage of information as indicated in the study. The encoding and storage of information depend on the nature of information. Visual and verbal information is stored differently. Imagery and rehearsals promote decoding and storage. Critical and stressful information is more likely to be stored in long-term memory. The reconstructive nature of the memory leads to information changes. The memory can be altered when one is fed with false information.
