The Child by Student
There was a child went forth every day;
And the first object he looked upon, that object he became;
And that object became part of him for the day, or a certain part of the day or for
Many years, or stretching cycles of years.
The toy cars, mostly police patrol cars- that filled the house,
And the fairly tale books, all exciting to look at, and learn to read.
And this little cradle- that was solely meant for the baby,
And the mobile, always above the crib, swaying and swinging
For the baby to sleep.
The ever white clinic, nurses pacing and racing back and forth,
The public schools, always packed with kids.
The bus stop, most noisy place in the hood.
The fast-food joints; that became part of the baby’s future
A loving and caring mom, who was also the sole breadwinner.
A drunk uncle- spending most of the time in pubs,
And a baby brother, always cheerful, bright, obedient, and a geek.
